As a lot of you know, Denis came to visit NYC this weekend, marking my first official visitor! The great thing about having someone visit this city is that you can do all of the tourist-y things since no one that lives here ever wants to do them.
Although I and the rest of the New Yorkers avoid Times Square as much as we possibly can, it's nice to go and take it all in again. No matter how many times you've seen New York on TV, it doesn't even compare to seeing the lights, billboards, and buildings in person. We went to the top of the Empire State Building, the 9/11 Memorial, the cruise to the Statue of Liberty (which is of course closed thanks to the shutdown), walked through Chinatown, SoHo, the Financial District, and all through Central Park. The amazing thing about this city is how each neighborhood has its own personality, yet the whole city has the same energy--the feeling of hopes and dreams that radiate from everyone living here, trying to make it every single day.
Out of all of the site seeing from the weekend, my favorite part was definitely walking the Brooklyn Bridge. We took the subway to Brooklyn first and walked from Brooklyn back into Manhattan. Don't ask me how I did this considering I'm highly afraid of water, but the view was so amazing you never look down. I've been here over a month and if you've been reading, I've been going through a lot of changes and realizations about what my life is changing into. But when we got off the subway at Brooklyn and walked the empty, quiet, deserted streets to the bridge, I realized that all I wanted to do was get back to Manhattan as quickly as possible. I know I'm meant to be here--I find comfort in this city and being around a million people. Even though I know Brooklyn is just as great and I am excited to one day explore the other boroughs, I'm happy to see I've already become used to the craziness of this city.
Here are some amazing photos I got while on top of the Empire State Building, the cruise, etc.

In other news, I was hired as a Design Intern!! More of that to come later once I start, but I am so excited to be on the path I want to go. Every day I am one step closer to my dream--and that's the real beauty of this city.
