2013 was a year of change for my family and me. We went through a lot of change, including graduation, job losses, and moving. We've been through a lot together, and I've gone through a lot of changes in the past 4 months I've spent in New York. 2014 is going to be the Year of Success for the me, I can just feel it. So here's a list of "resolutions", or my take on goals for the year.
10. Get back into running and exercise. Although I hate exercise in all forms, I need to be more active than just walking everywhere. And running is really the only form of exercise you can do without joining a pricey New York gym. A smaller goal would be to be able to run a mile without stopping...something I've never been able to do (don't laugh, just one of my few flaws).

9. Cook myself a real dinner at least once a week. With my crazy schedule, I never know when I'm going to be home for dinner, let alone when I'd have time to cook dinner. But grilled cheese and frozen pizza isn't cutting it anymore. In 2014, I'm going to take the time to cook a real meal--you know, with real meat and stuff. Now that my roommate got us a George Forman, anything is possible.
8. Invest in my own stock. But first, understand what the stock market really is. Yes, I've taken Finance and Accounting, but I still don't get how stocks work. All the stocks I've ever "owned" were invested by my parents. They taught me how to be good with money, but I want to learn how to invest my money, since I'm a real adult now.
7. Venture over to the West Side of Manhattan every now and then. I mean, there's a whole half of Manhattan I haven't even experienced yet. The Upper East Side will always be my favorite, but I'm sure the Upper West Side is just as chic. Also, it would probably encourage me to spend some time in Central Park, where I could accomplish my #10 goal.
6. Use technology more. I know a lot of people usually resolve to not use Facebook or the internet as much, but I really need to start learning all the things my computer and other technological devices do. I'm sure if I knew all the shortcuts and such I would save a lot of time. Mind you, I'm a girl who was still using floppy disks up until a few years ago, so this is something I really need to learn.
5. Try some new foods. My basic food groups are: Grilled cheese, salad, frozen pizza, and nutella. Normally I eat really healthy, but since my only source of income right now is the Gap, I've had to cut a lot out of my food budget. Also I'm lazy and don't like cooking a meal for one. But I am going to try to cook at least once a week so I can have a real meal and not die from malnutrition. Sometimes I feel like I single handedly keep Nutella in business.
4. Get back into volunteering. Being in the sorority, I used to volunteer all the time. It was easy, too, since the University had so many opportunities. Now that I'm not in school, it's harder to find ways to volunteer, but I really would love to start again.
3. Start becoming more of a New Yorker. In the sense that I need to speak up more and be a little selfish. In the Midwest, job hunting and working is not very cutthroat, but here I have to really learn to be more demanding and upfront so I don't get pushed aside. Especially in the fashion industry, I am learning to be a lot more tough and speak my mind.
2. Land a full time job. This is something I need to be patient about as I intern. But living off of the Gap's salary isn't really cutting it. I am hoping by the end of this internship I will have enough experience to be hired. And it would be nice if it was with the company I'm interning with, since I love it there so far!
1. Enjoy my city more. Yes I'm on a tight budget, but working 7 days a week is so exhausting a stressful, I deserve a few fun moments every now and then. I'm sure once I start accomplishing the other goals on my list, I'm sure this won't be a problem.
