This weekend was my first weekend completely off work in exactly a year. When I moved back home after graduation, I started work the next day at Gap again, and haven't stopped since. It was a much needed weekend full of relaxation and lots and lots of sleep.
Spring is in full bloom in NYC. The flowers are out, the sun is shining, and the people are out and about everywhere you go. I'm sure it will fade, but the crowded streets and trains actually didn't annoy me this weekend--I was just happy to not have to wear a coat and boots. I did lots of running this weekend on my new favorite path along the East River. Normally, I don't want anyone to see me run as I'm extraordinarily awkward and embarrassing, but the beautiful view is just too much to pass up.

I also decided I needed a little retail therapy and spent Sunday in Union Square. I didn't find much, but I did happen to find lots of Tahari ASL clothing that made me smile. To the other people shopping, a jacket isn't anything important. But I know the work that goes behind picking everything down to the stitching, and it's really cool to know exactly who designed it. Pretty soon that someone is going to be me.
Overall, it was a much needed free weekend. I can't believe it's now been exactly 1 year since I graduated from college, and I still can't believe every day how far I've come since then. The best part of my weekend though? Sleeping until noon without being woken up once. It was magnificent. We all know I require 13 hours of sleep a night to function anyway.
Lastly, Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there, but especially mine. She raised 3 kids within 15 months of each other and only managed to go partially insane. She's always there for us whenever we need her, and I couldn't be happier to call her my mom. Thanks mom, for all you do and I hope you enjoy the sweater I got you from work.
xoxo,
Ms. Manhattan
