What a crazy week it's been!
As I mentioned in my last post, I landed an internship! It's part time and unpaid (of course), but it's for a high end, women's RTW company. It's small but they have shown at Fashion Week so it's obviously established. Plus, it's in SoHo so I get to walk around SoHo looking for lunch places each day in one of my favorite neighborhoods.
So far I have just been doing administrative tasks. But if you know me at all, you know I'm super organized so you can see how this job is perfect for me. Everyone in the office is pretty laid back, so it seems like a great environment to learn. I'm excited that it's a smaller company because that means I get a front row ticket to everything going on in the design studio. Plus, we ended today with some cake and champagne...so I'd say I've found a good fit for me.
Earlier this week I got to see Andre Leon Talley speak. He was so inspirational, and really proved you can start from the bottom and work your way to the top in New York. He was also hilarious. But right before I went to see Andre, I got the most horrific phone call from my brother. My beagle, Brandy, was hit by a car. If you know me at all, you also know I'm obsessed with my dogs, so I hope Andre didn't notice my puffy eyes from crying all the way from the stage. Luckily, Brandy didn't break any bones, but she can't walk on her back legs yet and for some reason won't pee. What I'm most upset about though is the fact that the driver didn't even stop to see if Brandy was okay. Somehow Brandy ran all the way back home and a nice neighbor told my mom what she saw. They say everything can change in a New York minute, even all the way in St. Louis.
